Terms of Service

1. What the Service provides

The Service offers a free, high-level vehicle check and an optional paid "full report" for a fee (currently £9.99, subject to change with notice on the website).

When you purchase the full report, payment unlocks the full report for the specific UK registration you searched at checkout only. It does not apply to other registrations or future searches unless you purchase again for each vehicle you wish to view in full.

The full report may include, where available:

• MOT history (tests, results, advisories and defects);
• Finance-related checks (e.g. outstanding finance indicators);
• Stolen vehicle checks against the Police National Computer (PNC), where returned by our data providers;
• Write-off and insurance-related category or history information;
• Mileage-related information and analysis;
• Keeper history;
• Plate (registration) change history;
• Other vehicle identity and status information from our sources (e.g. tax and MOT expiry).

Not every field will be present for every vehicle. Availability depends on what third-party registers hold for that registration and how it is returned to us.

1a. Standard Report (£3.99)

The Standard Report provides MOT history, mileage records, compliance information (ULEZ, road tax, fuel economy), and an AI trust score. Data is sourced from DVSA and DVLA. The Standard Report does not include finance checks, stolen checks, write-off checks, keeper history, plate change history, valuation, or manufacturer specification data. Those features are available in the Full Report only.

2. Data sources

Vehicle information is obtained from official and licensed data sources. These include, without limitation:

• The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), including MOT history where supplied through authorised interfaces;
• Vehicle Data Global Limited and its APIs (including packages such as VDICheck), which supply aggregated register and industry data (e.g. finance, stolen, write-off, mileage, keeper and plate-related information) subject to their terms and coverage.

We may also use the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) or other authorised sources where integrated. We do not claim to hold data that our suppliers do not provide for a given query.

3. Informational purposes only; not professional advice; limitation as to decisions

All outputs from the Service — including free summaries, trust scores, and paid full reports — are provided strictly for general information purposes. They do not constitute legal, financial, mechanical, insurance, or other professional advice.

Data is compiled from official and licensed registers and suppliers as described in section 2. Bad Drivers UK does not warrant that any report is complete, accurate, or fit for a particular purpose. Bad Drivers UK accepts no liability for any loss, damage, or decision made based on report findings, trust scores, or any other information presented through the Service. You use the Service at your own risk.

You must not rely on the Service as the sole basis for deciding whether to purchase, finance, insure, or use a vehicle. You should always obtain an independent professional inspection of any vehicle before purchasing and verify critical facts yourself (including with sellers, finance companies, insurers, and relevant authorities).

4. Accuracy, sandbox and third-party data

We aim to present data faithfully, but we do not warrant that information is complete, accurate, up to date, or free from error. Data originates from third parties and may be delayed, amended, or recorded incorrectly at source.

If you use any sandbox, demo, trial, or non-production environment we make available (or if we operate separate test credentials), results may differ from live production data and must not be used for real-world decisions.

5. Payment terms

• Paid reports are charged in GBP via Stripe at checkout. The price shown at purchase applies.
• Stripe, Inc. (or its affiliates) processes payments. Card and payment-method data are subject to Stripe's privacy policy and terms.
• By paying, you confirm you are authorised to use the payment method and that the information you provide is accurate.

6. Refunds

Because digital report content is made available immediately after successful payment, statutory cooling-off rights may not apply in the same way as for physical goods. We will nevertheless consider refund requests fairly where a technical failure on our side prevents you from accessing the report you paid for. Contact us promptly with your transaction details.

7. Privacy and data protection

Our use of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy. We process personal data in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

8. Acceptable use

• Do not use the Service for unlawful, abusive, harassing, or fraudulent purposes.
• Do not attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, overload, or circumvent technical or contractual limits.
• Do not resell or systematically redistribute report outputs without our prior written consent.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Bad Drivers UK and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or special loss, or for any loss arising from reliance on third-party data, errors or omissions in reports, or decisions made using the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited (including death or personal injury caused by negligence where applicable, or fraud).

10. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date will change accordingly. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms where permitted by law.
